Theatre in Education—as the title of the piece goes may sound like a contradiction to many minds, a contradiction because most of us do not equate Theatre or Drama with anything other than entertainment. Most Schools in my experience think that though Theatre in schools is not at all a bad idea, the questions that crops immediately are -- do the children have "time" to take on yet another subject? Most Principals though are enlightened enough to realize the efficacy of Theatre for the children in their institutions, but succumb to Academic pressures Theatre is not merely ‘acting’ as it is perceived to be. There are so many other aspects of it that do not immediately come to mind, to the uninitiated.
