Cover Story - The RAINBOW Child!

This saga begins with the sails of the ship awaiting the winds blowing towards India from Dun Laoighaire in 1956. The ship and its sails were to pen destiny for S. M. Cyril who sailed out from Dun Laoighaire en route to India via South Africa (that was the year of the Suez Crisis). Little did the eyes foresee the kind of work that she would be doing or the Padma Shri the Government would award her for what she has been doing for the poorest girl child in India. Come unto this ship with MENTOR as we sail into this world of Sr. Cyril .

Celebrityspeak - My CHIP

Reason guides our attempt to understand the world about us. Both reason and compassion guide our efforts to apply that knowledge ethically, to understand other people and have ethical relationships with different people. It was courage, faith, endurance and a dogged determination to surmount all obstacles that built this bridge, writes Ms.Kunickaa Sadanand Lall.

Hall of Wisdom - The road less trodden!

When the Lok Biradari Prakalp was set up, establishing a school did not constitute a part of its plans. But Dr Prakash and the others realised soon after they began work that if the exploitation of the tribals by forest guards and other outsiders was to stop the tribals needed to be educated and taught to fight for their rights. Dr. Prakash Amte shares his experiences and challenges with MENTOR while establishing the residential school.

We applaud - In the cornucopia of life

The Human Mind is tutored to define a child as "innocent and lovable" for ages now. However, when the question arises of rights of the child and the most debatable question of "equal right to knowledge" for all children in order to make their life worthy of living; it is just a select few rather minimal who will come forward to work towards the betterment of their life. Eventually people tend to forget the major sections of society who need to be motivated as much as other children of the society. MENTOR salutes the efforts of the Akshaya Patra Foundation responsible for that touch in the lives of children.
