When Dance Speaks The Unspoken

The film ‘Umrao Jaan’ (starring Rekha) had been a big hit in Hyderabad. Last year, during the Children’s Day celebrations, when the children of  Abhyasa Residential Public School at Toopran in Andhra Pradesh, were asked whether ‘Umrao Jaan’ could take refuge in their school, they were over the moon. She came on to stage and began dancing for them. Enthralled, they watched, and then someone shouted – “It’s our princi!” There was a roar of delight from the audience as recognition dawned that the ‘woman’ dancing to glory on the stage was none other than their own daring and darling principal – Vinayak Kalletla, founder-principal of the school.

Rarely does one come across a Principal like this one, and if Education is his “calling”, then ‘dance’ is his passion which provides oxygen to his spirit.
